Pronoun declension: the full paradigm
The personal, possessive and demonstrative pronouns through all six cases, including the н- that appears after a preposition.
The personal pronouns, in the order Nominative — Genitive — Dative — Accusative — Instrumental — Prepositional: я → меня́, мне, меня́, мной, обо мне́. Ты → тебя́, тебе́, тебя́, тобо́й, о тебе́. Он → его́, ему́, его́, им, о нём. Она́ → её, ей, её, ей, о ней. Оно́ → его́, ему́, его́, им, о нём. Мы → нас, нам, нас, на́ми, о нас. Вы → вас, вам, вас, ва́ми, о вас. Они́ → их, им, их, и́ми, о них. The Instrumental of она́ has a longer alternative, е́ю, which sounds formal; ей is what you will normally hear.
The н- rule now applies in full: put any preposition in front of a third-person pronoun and it grows an initial н. У него́, к нему́, о нём; у неё, к ней, о ней; у них, к ним, о них, с ни́ми. Without a preposition there is no н: Я его́ зна́ю, Я их ви́жу, Она́ ему́ помо́гла. This is one of the few places where Russian morphology depends on what precedes the word rather than on the word itself, and it catches every learner.
The possessive pronouns мой, твой and свой decline identically to each other, and наш and ваш decline identically to each other. Masculine and neuter singular: мой, моего́, моему́, мой or моего́, мои́м, о моём. Feminine singular: моя́, мое́й, мое́й, мою́, мое́й, о мое́й. Neuter and plural follow the adjective pattern: моё, моего́, моему́, моё, мои́м, о моём; мои́, мои́х, мои́м, мои́ or мои́х, мои́ми, о мои́х. Наш keeps the stress on the stem throughout: на́шего, на́шему, о на́шем. Его́, её and их do not decline at all.
The demonstratives and the interrogatives complete the picture. Э́тот declines э́тот, э́того, э́тому, э́тот or э́того, э́тим, об э́том; feminine э́та, э́той, э́той, э́ту, э́той, об э́той; plural э́ти, э́тих, э́тим, э́ти or э́тих, э́тими, об э́тих. Тот follows the same shape with о: того́, тому́, тем, о том. And кто and что decline кто, кого́, кому́, кого́, кем, о ком and что, чего́, чему́, что, чем, о чём — which is exactly where the case-questions diagnostic comes from. Свой is the reflexive possessive and has its own entry.
